Jason Nevinger has been named dean of admissions at Union following an extensive national search.
He begins November 4.
Nevinger has more than 25 years of admissions experience, including the last nine years at the University of Rochester, where he was director of admissions. As director, he led a team of 35 professionals and oversaw an enrollment selection process that involved more than 20,000 student applicants a year.
He also spent nine years at Carnegie Mellon University, where he managed student recruitment, on-campus programming and large-scale admissions events.
At Union, Nevinger will report to Matt Malatesta '91, vice president for admissions, financial aid and enrollment. He will work closely with the leadership team at Grant Hall and the entire admissions team.
Nevinger’s collaborative and data-driven approach, along with his dedication to supporting students and families, will be invaluable to Union's admissions work, Malatesta said.
“I was humbled by the interest in the position, which highlights Union's strong position in the market,” Malatesta said. “We had a great pool of candidates and we are ecstatic that Jason will be joining the team. The combination of his skill as a servant leader, strategic thinker and dedicated practitioner will help us continue to improve our efforts.”
Nevinger earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Westminster College in Pennsylvania,.
“I'm incredibly excited to join the Union community,” Nevinger said. “I have been continually impressed with Union’s commitment to an undergraduate education experience that intentionally emphasizes a foundation and an intersectionality of the liberal arts and applied engineering disciplines. That approach to education is made even better by the true closeness of the members of the Union community, who embrace the ideas of difference, togetherness and working together to make the world ever better.”
